Waukegan, IL (October 26, 2015) … The Rotary Club of Waukegan meets weekly at Bonnie Brook Clubhouse on Thursdays at noon. The fifth Thursday of the month there is no meeting at noon; rather, there is Rotary at Sunset, a networking mixer, at Bonnie Brook at 5:30pm. The purpose of Rotary at Sunset is to bring together leaders from various professions, to network, get to know about Rotary, meet new people, and make meaningful connections. Rotary at Sunset is complimentary and open to the public. Feel free to invite friends and colleagues. There is a Rotary at Sunset on Thursday, October 29th.
This year’s fall fundraiser is a citrus sale, cases of premium oranges and grapefruits are being sold for $38 per case. Cases are 4/5 bushel weighing approximately 40 lbs. and can be split in half. The fundraiser enables the Rotary Club of Waukegan to make donations to various charities. Previously the Club has made donations to the Boy Scouts of American, Independence Center, Help Them to Hope, C.O.O.L., Mothers’ Trust, Salvation Army, I Plus, Lake County Council for Seniors, the Waukegan Public Library and the Waukegan Park District.
One of the Rotary Club of Waukegan’s most longstanding service activities is Feed the Hungry on every fifth Tuesday during a calendar year at the First United Methodist Church, 128 N Martin Luther King Jr. Volunteers are always welcome. Usually cooking and set up begins around 2pm and servers are needed at 5pm. The Club generally feeds between 90 and 130 people at these meals.  Our next Feed the Hungry is Tuesday, December 29th.
